DIALOGUE AND MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING
United Nation General Assembly in 17 December 1999, in its resolution 54/120, endorsed the recommendation made the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth, held in Lisbon from 8-12 August, that 12 August be declared International Youth Day (IYD). The Assembly recommended that public information activates be organized to support the Day as a way to promote better awareness of the World Program of Action for Youth, adopted by the General Assembly in 1995. The resolution invites Secretary-General to participate actively in the effective follow-up to the World Program of Action for Youth. Since that date World is observing 12 August as the IYD. It has not been long time, Nepalese youth started to celebrate IYD since 2005. To this date we, the youth, have already celebrated different nine IYD in different theme.
